How to find the perfect bike size for you

Finding the right frame size for you starts with your knowing your height (in either centimetres or feet and inches); each bike has its own our size guide chart to help you determine which of our frame sizes would best suit you. Just find your height within the bike size ranges to find your recommended bike size. For example, if you’re 190cm/6’2” tall, then our XL frame should suit you perfectly; similarly, if you’re 160cm/5’3” then our S frame should be right for you.

In-between sizes?
Height is a general starting point but if you’re in-between sizes – for example, if you’re 178cm/5’10” tall then you could fit either a size M or L bike – then it’s not quite as clear cut. If this is the case for you, then know that both frames will fit you*. But which one will be right for you will come down to personal preference insofar as how you want your bike to ride, as well as your body dimensions.

Riding preference
If you prefer a more stable bike – particularly on descents and at speed, and one that feels more confident to ride that’s also less affected by rider weight shifts – then size up to the larger frame size; if, however, you want a bike that’s more agile and responsive – and that’s easier to move around – then size down to the smaller frame size. It’s like choosing a more stable long-board surfboard or a snappier short-board surfboard.

Not all bodies are the same
That all said, know your body. If you have longer legs and a shorter torso and arms, then you’ll likely be better on the smaller frame size so size down; if you have a longer torso and arms than average, then you’ll likely have a better ride on the larger frame size, so size up.

*You can tailor your bike fit to a degree by rotating your bars forwards or backwards slightly, trimming the width of your mountain bike handlebar, by changing your stem length (use a longer one to give you a more stretched out position and more reach to the bars, or a shorter one for a more upright riding position and less reach to the bars), raising or lowering your saddle height, or a combination of all of these.

Gravel bike sizing
If you’re interested in our award-winning gravel bikes then our sizing is slightly different. Rather than using S, M, L or XL to denote each size, our gravel bikes are sized from 50cm, 52cm, 54cm, 56cm, and 58cm but each is essentially XS, S, M, L, and XL. Again, find your height and then refer to the recommended size on the size guide. Our gravel bikes also generally size larger than other brand’s road/gravel bikes – so if you’re a 56cm on another brand’s road or gravel bike then you’ll likely need to size down to a 54cm for one of our gravel bikes. Again, if you’re in any doubt, just get in touch via your eBay portal and we'll be happy to help.
